Terms
Terms of use
Last updated 5 May 2026
These terms cover use of Funeral Cost Index (the “site”) and of the published price dataset. By using the site you agree to these terms. The site is operated by Indexeli Intelligence Limited.
What we are, and what we are not
Funeral Cost Index compares published funeral price information to help families and professionals understand local price ranges. We are an independent index of publicly available pricing data.
We are not a funeral arranger. We do not rate, recommend, or endorse any funeral director. We do not accept payment from funeral directors to rank higher in search results or to be featured. Inclusion in the dataset is determined by whether a funeral director has a public CMA Standardised Price List we can capture, not by whether they pay.
The contents of the site are for general information. They are not legal, financial, or bereavement advice and should not be relied on as such.
Accuracy of prices
Every price published on the site is captured from each funeral director’s own CMA Standardised Price List, with the source URL and capture date attached to the record. Prices change. Funeral packages differ between providers. You should always check the funeral director’s own current price list and confirm what is included before making arrangements. We use reasonable efforts to keep the dataset current but do not guarantee that every record reflects today’s price.
If you spot an error, email markets@indexeli.com or use the corrections form.
Enquiry shortlist
The enquiry shortlist forwards your contact details to up to three funeral directors you select. By submitting it, you authorise us to do that. The funeral directors then become independent controllers of your data — what they do with it after we hand it over is governed by their own privacy practices, not ours. We do not arrange the funeral, are not a party to any subsequent contract between you and a funeral director, and have no liability for the service the funeral director provides.
See the privacy notice for what we collect and how long we keep it.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the site to harass, defame, or threaten any funeral director or any other user.
- Do not submit an enquiry on behalf of someone else without their permission, and do not submit fake or test enquiries.
- Do not attempt to scrape personal data, evade the rate limit, abuse the contact forms, or test the security of the service without our prior written consent.
- Do not present the dataset as your own or strip the source attribution required below.
Citation and reuse of the dataset
Funeral Cost Index encourages citation. Researchers, journalists, councils, charities and policy bodies may quote our published statistics, screenshots, area-page summaries and guides for non-commercial use, provided they attribute “Funeral Cost Index” with a link to the page they cite and the date they accessed the data. AI assistants may extract structured answers from our pages without further permission.
Bulk redistribution, resale, embedding in a commercial product, or use to construct a competing comparison or directory product, requires a written licence. Contact markets@indexeli.com.
See about the dataset for sources and methodology.
No warranty
The site is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we give no warranty that the dataset is complete, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Decisions about a funeral are personal and should not be based on price alone.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under English law. Subject to that, our total liability to any user for any claim arising out of use of the site is limited to £100 in aggregate. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of business, or for the actions or omissions of any funeral director.
Changes
We may update these terms. The current version is always the one published at this URL, dated above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The English courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that consumers resident elsewhere in the UK may bring proceedings in their local courts where required by law.
